The Image of Women has been ruined, and now needs to be the time for change. This is the reason why:

Objectifying Women with advertising

In these 2 pictures, the women are being seen as useless trash that can be thrown away after being full used to the man’s advantage. These advertisements make it seem as though the women will come to their beck and call, and are bring treated as dogs. The first picture has it seem as if the woman is hypnotized by the man. She will do anything he says, and doesn’t care what he does to her. In the second picture, the woman is seen someone who is useless, and is made to stay on the ground. It seems as though she is though of as a dirt and is looked down on. The kind of message that is being said to men are, tell women what they need to do and they will do it. It also says that they don’t have freedom of speech and they will do anything you say. It is being said a women is valuable when she will do anything that the man tells her to do.

Victoria Secret

Women feel as though the only way to get attention from men these days, is to enhance the size of their breasts. Victoria Secret has made a line of bras that add 2 cup sizes to their bra, to hide their true cup size. The statement being made about women is that for the only way for them to be beautiful, is to have big boobs. It is also said this is also the only way to make a women feel happy about them selves, and look valuable through a man’s eyes. This kind of thing is made to look more pleasurable in a man’s eyes. Through a man’s eyes it may seem that the women only wants to be used for sexual needs, instead of being cared about.

[Intro: 50 Cent]

Yeah…Uh huh. So seductive

[Chorus: 50 Cent & Olivia][50 Cent]

I’ll take you to the candy shop. I’ll let you lick the lollipop. Go ‘head girl, don’t you stop. Keep going ‘til you hit the spot (woah)

[Olivia]

I’ll take you to the candy shop.Boy one taste of what I got. I’ll have you spending all you got. Keep going ‘til you hit the spot (woah)

[Verse 1: 50 Cent]

You can have it your way, how do you want it. You gon’ back that thing up or should i push up on it. Temperature rising, okay lets go to the next level. Dance floor jam packed, hot as a teakettle. I’ll break it down for you now, baby it’s simple. If you be a nympho, I’ll be a nympho. In the hotel or in the back of the rental. On the beach or in the park, it’s whatever you into. Got the magic stick, I’m the love doctor. Have your friends teasing you ‘bout how sprung I gotcha. Wanna show me how you work it baby, no problem. Get on top then get to bouncing round like a low rider. I’m a seasons vet when it come to this shit. After you work up a sweat you can play with the stick. I’m trying to explain baby the best way I can. I melt in your mouth girl, not in your hands (ha ha)

[Chorus][Bridge: 50 Cent & Olivia]

Girl what we do (what we do). And where we do (and where we do). The things we do (things we do). Are just between me and you (oh yeah)

[Verse 2: 50 Cent]

Give it to me baby, nice and slow. Climb on top, ride like you in the rodeo. You ain’t never heard a sound like this before. Cause I ain’t never put it down like this before. Soon as I come through the door she get to pulling on my zipper. It’s like it’s a race who can get undressed quicker. Isn’t it ironic how erotic it is to watch em in thongs. Had me thinking ‘bout that ass after I’m gone. I touch the right spot at the right time. Lights on or lights off, she like it from behind. So seductive, you should see the way she wind. Her hips in slow-mo on the floor when we grind. As Long as she ain’t stopping, homie I ain’t stopping. Dripping wet with sweat man its on and popping. All my champagne campaign, bottle after bottle its on. And we gon’ sip ‘til every bubble in every bottle is gone [Chorus 2x]

In this song Candy Shop by 50 cent, the audience is directed towards men who try to persuade women to sexually arouse them. He explains of what he wants for her to do to him, and what kind of “rewards” she gets if she does. This song objectifies women in the way, that men believe if they say what the woman wants to here, then they will do what ever the men want. They believe that all women want is sex, instead of a real relationship. The song is saying that the only way women can be valuable is if they have sex with someone. The message that is being sent to men is that you can just use women for sex and their only pleasure, and then just forget about them. The woman are only used for men’s personal pleasure, and then left as trash to move on to the next one.

[Intro: Ty Dolla $ign]
Uhh
Dolla $ign
Motha on the beat, ho

[Hook: Ty Dolla $ign]
I see two of my bitches in the club
And I know they know about each other
I think these bitches tryna set me up
Maybe I’m just paranoid

[Verse 1: Ty Dolla $ign]
Uh, I got a bad light skin from the valley
She be in the club with no panties
Lil’ Bitch, she used to be my favorite
But now we don’t speak the same language
I love my bitch, I could bang it
From my dark skin, at least know how to take dick
I got ‘em both the same damn red bottoms
And bought ‘em both the same damn fragrance
Both of my bitches drive Range Rovers
None of my bitches can stay over
Both of my bitches look good as fuck
Your bitch look like a booger wolf

[Hook]

[Bridge: Ty Dolla Sign]
Yeah I’m paranoid, I’m tripping
I’ve been smoking and sipping
I’m fuckin’ around with two bitches
But I never make them hoes my misses

[Verse 2: B.o.B]
Bobby!
Women talk, women talk
She run her mouth so much she can’t hear her own thoughts
Told my old ho, she my new bitch
Told my new bitch, she my old ho
Well she used to be your ho
Dead, hold up, flat line
I fuck a bitch to sleep, nap time
I put my name on it and that’s mine
Pussy so wet she thought it got baptized
Ask me where I’m at, that’s a set-up
You ain’t talking bout nothing, bitch shut up
If you got a side chick, nigga what up
Both my girls in the club bout to nut up
Stalking on my network
Got her looking so hard that her neck hurt
And I ain’t tripping, I got room for ‘em both
This is HAM Squad, I just doubled up my net worth

This song consists of Ty Dolla Sign and B.O.B. rapping about the fact that they are messing around with two women and they know that the women know about each other. They are expressing that they are nervous that the women will realize what has happened and go after him. It can be inferred from the way they talk about these women that they have no meaning to the men other than that they are beautiful and will have sex with them. Seeing as there are two of them and both men mention not “making them hoes [their] mrs” that the men do not even intend to go further than using these women for their beauty and sex.

The original barbie (on the left) represents how women are supposed to be portrayed. This barbie was considered to be perfect and help high standards for girls to look just like her. In reality, no girl can look like her so it just loses its value and puts even more pressure on women knowing they can’t be perfect like Barbie. This impacted the opinions of male’s who also believed that this is how girls should look. Recently the “realistic” barbie came out. This sets lower standards for women because she is imperfect but still Barbie, who is known to be perfect. This new Barbie presents women with the understanding that reality is not the Barbie to the left, it is the Barbie to the right.

Jennifer Lawrence, Emma Roberts, and Demi Lovato are the kind of people young girls should be looking up to. They explain that you do not be the clothes size that models are wearing to be accepted into society. It is being said today that if you do not have a thigh gap or fit in a size 2, then you are not considered skinny. If a women is to be healthy and feels confident, then that makes her just as skinny as everyone else. A women is made to be happy and comfortable in her own body. A women should never have to feel insecure around people and what they think about her. People should never judge a book by it’s cover. Men don’t always get to know a girl, they immediately judge what they see from the outside. Men usually judge and compare what they see in magazines, to what is actually in the real world. The message that is being sent to men is that in reality not every girl will look like a model, but that doesn’t make them any less beautiful. Men should realize that everyone has their flaws, but that is what makes them unique. It wouldn’t be interesting if everything was perfect and nothing was wrong with them, and is also would never be realistic.

This advertisement for Jack Daniels is suggesting that alcohol and sex go together. It gives the message that if you can get a girl to drink with you, you have a guarantee that you will also gain sex from the girl. This ad encourages men to get women drunk to take advantage of them.

This ad portrays a woman in a very sexual manner and the tag line on the ad is ” You know you’re not the first, but do you really care,” insinuating that this woman, like the pre-owned cars they are advertising, is still valuable even though she is not “new”. This is an advertisement for used cars that is comparing a used car to a sexually active woman, degrading the woman in the photograph to being worth as much as an inanimate object.

This video is an ad for the Beats Pill by Dr. Dre. The whole ad consists of women who are barely clothed dancing around with Pills in various colors and dance around very suggestively. This ad objectifies women for no reason, seeing as the women in the commercial probably provide little to no extra incentive to buyers. This video is also very similar to the music video for Robin Thicke’s song Blurred Lines, which can be heard playing the background, where the women seen in this ad can also be seen dancing around suggestively. The song Blurred Lines itself references taking advantage of a woman who is in a relationship, adding to the objectification of women in this ad.

Playboy Magazine Cover
This cover, although conservative compared to most Playboy covers, displays how women are objectified in the sense they can be used by men to fulfill their sexual needs. In these magazines, women are used as objects instead being treated as an equal. The value of women is lost in these magazines. The message being sent to men is that all women should look and act a certain way to their needs rather than theirs. This woman is portrayed as perfect which is an unrealistic realization to men.
